Healing & Grief Retreat

A Peaceful Setting for Reflection and Healing

Grief does not follow a schedule. Healing often begins by stepping away from daily demands and allowing space for stillness and prayer.

At Heritage, guests are welcomed into a peaceful, faith-rooted setting designed for reflection and rest. Pine Lodge serves as the heart of the retreat experience, offering comfortable gathering spaces, a chapel for prayer, and quiet corners for personal reflection. A screened porch and garden courtyard create a natural connection between indoor comfort and the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Beyond the lodge, more than 200 acres of peaceful grounds invite you to slow down. Walking paths, shaded spaces, and peaceful natural surroundings offer room to process loss, seek clarity, and encounter God’s presence in the silence.

A central part of the healing and grief retreat experience is the Seven Sorrows Walk (link to prayer garden page), a prayer garden dedicated to the Seven Sorrows of Mary. Along a uniquely designed boardwalk, guests are guided past seven stations of sacred art and Biblical reflections, each honoring the sorrows and grief endured by Our Lord and His Mother.

This prayerful walk creates space to bring sorrow before God, to reflect on Mary’s faithful presence in suffering, and to find comfort in the hope of Christ. For many guests, the grounds themselves become part of the healing journey—offering stillness, beauty, and a gentle reminder that they do not walk through grief alone.

A Flexible Retreat Experience Rooted in Care and Hospitality

Heritage offers a peaceful and welcoming setting for both individual and group grief retreats. Guests seeking a personal, self-directed retreat can come away for quiet prayer, reflection, rest, and time on the Seven Sorrows Walk at their own pace. For churches, ministries, counseling groups, or bereavement teams, Heritage also provides a thoughtful space to host a guided group grief retreat, with comfortable accommodations, shared gathering areas, meals, chapel space, and peaceful grounds that support conversation, prayer, and healing. Whether you come alone or with a group, our team is here to offer warm hospitality and a setting where grief can be held with care, dignity, and hope.  Chef-prepared meals are served on-site, supporting nourishment without distraction and allowing guests to remain fully present throughout their stay.

A Space for Spiritual Reflection and Personal Renewal

Guests may spend time in quiet prayer, sit in the chapel, or participate in Mass or Reconciliation when available. Others may choose meditation, journaling, or simply being present in nature. The experience is designed to meet you where you are, whether your path is rooted in faith, personal reflection, or both.

Not every step forward needs to be large. Sometimes, it begins with stepping away. Heritage offers a healing setting where you can pause, reflect, and begin again at your own pace. Whether you are honoring a loss, processing pain, or seeking space, this retreat gives you room to create meaning, reconnect, and move forward, whether it's you or your group.

Every single aspect has been not only remarkable well thought out but is also beautifully executed. The attention to detail of the physical facilities is amazing, yet the attention to the spiritual aspects is even more inspirational. The staff, the accommodations were simply exceptional. Was remarkable from the time of arrival to the time of departure. Look forward to returning sometime soon.
